Deep purple in colour with a bright hue. A darker wine than the previous vintage with spiced plums, blackberry, charred meats and liquorice aromas. The palate has more blackberry and plum flavour, with a dense profile of gravelly tannins. Will reward cellaring.

Picked (hand-picked and selective harvester) then de-stemmed into a combination of open fermenters, maintaining a high proportion of whole berries. A small amount was also kept for whole cluster ferment. Fermenters were pumped over or plunged by hand twice a day. As soon as primary fermentation was complete the wine was then pressed to Burgundian oak 500L - 600L, along with oak foudre (3000L and 2500L). The wine was blended and bottled after 12 months.

A blend of sites, including Frankland River, Porongurup and Mount Barker. A component of Malbec also contributes (3%). Note: Forest Hill lost all Shiraz to frost in 2024. An early start to budburst which suggested the season which was to come. Great start to spring with strong shoot growth after a wet winter. A significant frost in late October caused damage in many blocks, although the Malbec site escaped the majority of the damage. Flowering was impacted by some cooler weather in early November. A dry and hot summer led to a very early season, one of the earliest we have ever seen with all white varietals harvested in February almost a month earlier an average.
