The greatest strength of Forest Hill grapes comes from the age of its cool-climate vineyard, the original plantings of more than 40 years, and home to the Great Southern’s oldest Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling vines. The unirrigated vines on their own roots produce concentrated and complete wines –elegant and refined – with the wines the finest examples of the label’s birthright.
The Block Series consists of: Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are made from the property’s very best parcels of hand-picked carefully-selected fruit, resulting in wines – white and red – that will reward cellaring for up to 20 years, and beyond.
2009 Block 1 Riesling
Produced from mature vines in a region originally selected for this variety, Forest Hill's Block 1 Riesling has gained world-wide recognition and support. The grapes from Block 1 result in wines of outstanding varietal flavours, true to Mount Barker. Fermented with wild yeasts to add palate richness and complexity while softening the vibrant, crisp natural acidity, the Forest Hill Rieslings are enhanced by a long, lingering, often flinty finish, ensuring wonderful graceful ageing.
2007 Block 8 Chardonnay
The powerful intensity of this cool-climate style, features flavours of white peach, apricot and lemon blossom with underlying mineral characters. Backed by delicate spicy, vanillin oak and a firm acid finish, it is a leaner, tighter style than those from most other Western Australian regions. An excellent structure ensures graceful ageing of at least five years.
2007 Block 9 Shiraz
Instense red and blue berries carry through onto the palate with lingering anise and earthy characters. The silky tannins are very well integrated providing a long and generous mouth feel.
This Block 9 Shiraz is certainly approachable now; though will age well over the next 8 -10 years. The structure will continue to integrate and soften more towards the back-palate.
Please note 1 x dozen per person only
2007 Block 5 Cabernet Sauvignon
Flavours of dark berries, tobacco leaf and subtle earthy notes carry through onto the palate with lingering dark chocolate aromas. A long and generous mouth feel is well supported by a very dense structure of chalky tannins.
This Block 5 Cabernet Sauvignon is certainly approachable now; though will age well over the next 8 - 10 years. The tannins will soften and integrate more with time and develop a longer, more filling wine.
Please note 1 x 6 pack per customer only.
