Forest Hill Restaurant and Cellar Door News

We would like to tell you the somewhat sad news that the Forest Hill Restaurant as you have known it, will be closing as of this Sunday the 25th September. This has been a difficult decision that has had to be made by Management. In this recent economic climate, it has been very difficult to keep a restaurant the size of Forest Hill profitable during the quiet winter months in Denmark.

Visitors will still be welcome to come and taste all of our wines as our beautiful Cellar Door will continue to trade Thursday’s to Monday’s throughout the year and will also be open for the Art Trail.

Excitingly though, Forest Hill Vineyard and chef Daniel Sharp from “Sharp Infusion” have come together and combined their talents to bring together the most prestigious venue, cuisine and wine in the Great Southern. This stunning resource will be available for functions, weddings and corporate events, which can be tailored to your needs. The restaurant will now only open for specialised functions and culinary events designed by Daniel and not regular a la carte dining. These events will as usual be advertised to our Wine and Food Club members and include the always popular Melbourne Cup on Tuesday November 1st, as well as long table lunches, degustation dinners and other events that our Wine and Food Club members will have first chance of buying tickets.

For our members that don’t know, Daniel’s journey began at the age of sixteen when he moved from Albany to Perth and commenced an apprenticeship at “COCO’S Seafood Restaurant” on the South Perth foreshore. A year later, he moved back to Albany, and spent two years training at the elite “Wild Duck Restaurant.” During this time, he took out the national title for the 2007 “Nestle Golden Chefs Hat Award”, held in Sydney. In September of 2009 he worked alongside celebrity chef Maggie Beer and then in December he travelled with a small team of chefs, to Siem Reap Cambodia; where 110 world dignitaries and Royals were treated to an Australian culinary experience. May 2011 presented Dan with the opportunity to step on stage with celebrity chef Curtis Stone, assisting for a cooking demonstration at the “Kimberly Kitchen”, part of the 2011 Ord Valley Muster held in Kununurra.

If you have dined in our restaurant, thank you for your valued patronage and we hope that your experience was a memorable one. Thanks also from all of the chefs, kitchen staff and wait staff for your support over the years, and we look forward to many more years of fantastic functions and of course drinking a lot more of our award winning wine.

This wine and food pairing will lead the way in Great Southern cuisine for all functions, weddings and events to be hosted at Forest Hill Winery.

Please contact us if you would like more information or quotes for your work Christmas parties, wedding, seminar or other private functions and let us put together a plan for you.

We look forward to seeing you soon for tastings in our cellar door.

Best regards from all of the Forest Hill Team
